Mr. Bush has over 26 years of experience with the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety and more than 37 years of experience in the construction industry. He holds a General Contractor’s License from the State of California and a Certification as a Combination Dwelling Inspector from the International Code Council (ICC). As the Executive Officer for the Department of Building and Safety (LADBS), Mr. Bush is responsible for managing operations of the department which includes approximately 1000 employees. He ensures that the LADBS mission, “to protect lives and safety of the residents and visitors of the City of Los Angeles and enhance the quality of life, housing, economic prosperity, and job creation citywide and to advise, guide, assist customers to achieve compliance with the Building, Zoning, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Disabled Access, Energy and Green codes local and State laws to Build Safe, Well and Fast”, is accomplished. Mr. Bush has developed and implemented numerous operational policies and procedures that have improved customer service and created many efficiencies. He has received numerous awards and recognition from City and State and Federal elected officials, community leaders, property owner associations, Los Angeles Police Department and other city departments for his dedication to public service and for resolving community blight issues throughout the City of Los Angeles. Mr. Bush began his City career as an inspector and promoted through the ranks to his current position as Executive Officer. Prior to his City service he was a licensed General Contractor and operated his own construction company where he was involved in new construction and remodel of large and small commercial and residential projects. Mr. Bush is married to Judy; they have four children and nine grandchildren. Together, they are actively involved in community service work.
