John Eddy has been leading Arup’s research into the potential impacts of driverless vehicles on the built environment. As the leader of Arup San Francisco’s Infrastructure Practice, John Eddy has the privilege of engaging in projects as diverse as an Automated Transit Network Feasibility Study in San Jose, California, the preliminary design of California High Speed Rail and the Presidio Parkway design and conversion to the State of California’s first P3 project. Recent speaking engagements include “Designing a Driverless World” Urban Land Institute, Sustainable Development Council, October 2014, “Driverless Vehicles - Disruption” Design Professionals Coalition, August 2014, and “Smart Civil Infrastructure” at ENR Futuretech Conference 2014. In addition John recently spoke on with Seleta Reynolds at the US Conference of Mayors Executive Committee. John Eddy has served in several leadership capacities in his 17 years at Arup including Global Civil Engineering Leader, Americas Infrastructure Practice Leader, Americas Board member, and Information Technologies Executive Chair.
