Biography: 

An expert in crisis management, he is a Member of the UCLA Extension Advisory Board for Emergency Management and Homeland Security, and a Member of the University of Paris Advisory Committee on International Threats. His relevant positions have included Vice President for Global Intelligence, Threat Analysis, and Crisis Management for The Walt Disney Company, where he provided leadership for Disney’s global intelligence operations, as well as planning for crisis management, threat mitigation, and business continuity. He led a team devoted to developing individual crisis management plans, procedures, and policies for Disney’s multiple lines of business, including cruise lines, theme parks, hotels, studios, and retail stores. He developed Disney’s Workplace Violence Initiative, including active shooter awareness and response protocols leading to widespread training and readiness in all of Disney’s business lines. His career has spanned the positions of Deputy Chief, Los Angeles Police Department, Chief of Police, Portland Oregon Police Department, Deputy Police Commissioner of the UN’s Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH), Police Commissioner for the United Nations Mission in Liberia, and Police Advisor to the UN’s Department of Peacekeeping Operations where his duties includedoversight of more than 9,000 UN Police Officers serving in 17 missions, international police-related policy development, and advice to United Nations’ senior-most executives.
