VerdeXchange's Green Marketplace Conference - January 26, 2009, Los Angeles, CA

VerdeXchange's Green Marketmaker's Conference Date: January 26, 2009

Given the current uncertain economic situation in the U.S. and consequent budget cutbacks among many key companies, public sector organizations, and financial institutions, the GreenXchange Xpo event scheduled last year for October 1-3, 2008, at the Los Angeles Convention Center has been put on hold for 2008.

Plans for our January 26, 2009 event in Los Angeles are now online. This '09 January date corresponds with the January 20, 2009 inauguation of the next President of the United States. We hope by late January to have a better sense of the US's interest in climate change and the domestic (California's AB 32) and global opportunities for clean and green energy technologies and sustainable practices. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to pursue other opportunities with us.

SB 375 Signed by Governor Schwarzenegger

Sweeping legislation that ties state transportation funds to the reduction of vehicle miles traveled implemented in the long range plans of local governments, SB 375 (Steinberg), was signed by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger at the end of September, 2008. The bill is an unprecedented attempt to curb sprawl and is a key component to meeting the carbon emission reduction targets set by AB 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.

CARB Releases GHG Accounting Protocols

In late September, the California Air Resources Board released a set of three accounting protocols to quantify emissions from local government operations, urban forest, and manure digester projects. The protocols were built with the help of California Climate Action Registry in order to begin implementing carbon emission reduction measures while the details of AB 32 are being sorted out on the state level. Details on the protocols are available at www.arb.ca.gov.
