VerdeXchange announces 2009 Green Marketmakers Conference
Builds on successful December 2007 GreenXchange Global Marketplace Conference
Los Angeles, California, October 22, 2008 – VerdeXchange today announced details of the 2009 VerdeXchange Green Marketmakers Conference, a major one day, California AB 32 inspired Clean and Green Energy/Technology Conference and networking event to be held January 26, 2009 – six days after the inauguration of the new President of the United States - at the Downtown Marriott, Los Angeles, California. This event builds on the success of the December 2007 GreenXChange Global Marketplace Conference, which brought together more than 1000 participants and representatives from 11 countries.
The Verdexchange Conference will bring together technology, energy and regulatory green marketmakers – the public and private sector “drivers of change” who create the market for green technology products and sustainable services - to explore how cutting edge public policy initiatives for addressing climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions will change the marketplace for technologies and services in industries ranging from electricity generation and transport fuels to home construction, waste management and water conservation.
The conference will showcase state, national and global efforts to transition economies to a cleaner energy future. More specifically, a number of panels will include executives and policy makers - drivers of change - who will highlight the public and private sector response to California trend setting initiatives: Assembly Bill 32 (signed into law 2006), California's 2005 Executive Order and a 2004 California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulation to reduce passenger car GHG emissions in California to 1990 levels by 2020 and below 1990 levels by 2050. According to the State’s Air Resources Board, implementation of these laws is generating enormous economic opportunities which promise to: create a 100,000 new jobs, give a $27 billion boost to California’s economy and an increase in personal income of $14 billion. The Conference’s focus on California reflects the western state’s early national lead in what Thomas Friedman terms – “The Earth Race.”
“The 2009 VerdeXchange Conference is the right event at the right time.” said Mary Nichols, Chair, California Air Resources Board. “It brings together the wide variety of stakeholders who are leading the way with clean and green technology and investments not only in California, but around the world.”
At the conference, individuals representing "in-market, about to be in-market and needed in-market" renewable technologies will interact with public policy makers and the business and financial communities. Leaders are participating from a wide range of sectors, including energy (wind, water, solar and nuclear), finance (public pension funds, equity managers and venture capitalists), transportation, public and private utilities, built environment planning and universities.
“The conference’s audience will be both drivers of climate change policy and practice, and market-makers in California and globally -- the buyers and sellers, manufacturers and entrepreneurs, elected officials and regulators, policymakers and investors in clean and green, sustainable, energy efficient products and services.” said David Abel, Chairman and Managing Director, VerdeXchange.
Bill Allen, President and CEO of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation added: "LAEDC is proud to be a 2009 VerdeXchange Conference co-sponsor. With Los Angeles County positioned to lead the world with its commitment to reducing its environmental footprint, the Green Marketmakers event will match global, national and local buyers and environmental stewards with the abundant opportunities for clean tech companies who wish to capitalize on the region's enormous public and private sector demands for innovative solutions to addressing climate change."
The VerdeXchange Green Marketmakers conference will be held at the Downtown Marriott, Los Angeles, California, from 7 AM to 5:30 PM on Monday, January 26, 2009.
