Andrea Sasse is a German diplomat and international affairs expert currently serving as Consul General of Germany in Los Angeles, a position she has held since 2023. In this role, she leads Germany’s diplomatic, economic, cultural, and consular engagement across Southern California and the southwestern United States, working to strengthen German-American relations in areas including trade, innovation, climate cooperation, education, and transatlantic partnerships. Prior to her appointment in Los Angeles, Sasse served in the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin as Deputy Spokesperson and Head of Social Media in the Ministry’s Spokesperson’s Office from 2020 to 2023. Earlier, she was Deputy Head of Middle Eastern Affairs in the Political Department, helping oversee Germany’s diplomatic engagement on regional security and foreign policy issues. Sasse has held several international diplomatic postings throughout her career, including assignments at the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., where she worked on Near and Middle Eastern Affairs, and at the German Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, where she led the Press and Cultural Section. She also previously served as spokesperson within the Foreign Office for issues related to Africa, the United Nations, cultural affairs, humanitarian assistance, human rights, and crisis management.
