Andrew Wordin is a veteran fire service leader and emergency management professional with the Los Angeles Fire Department, recognized for his expertise in emergency response operations, disaster preparedness, hazardous materials response, and first responder technology innovation. Over the course of his career, he has served one of the nation’s largest and most complex urban fire departments, helping protect more than four million residents across the City of Los Angeles. As a Battalion Chief with the LAFD, Wordin has commanded and coordinated responses to a broad spectrum of emergencies, including structure fires, wildland incidents, earthquakes, emergency medical operations, hazardous materials events, and urban search and rescue deployments. His operational leadership is complemented by extensive instructional experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS), paramedic education, trauma life support, weapons of mass destruction preparedness, and incident command simulations. Wordin is also widely recognized for his contributions to emergency response technology and training innovation. As a longtime member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate’s First Responder Resource Group (FRRG), he advised on the development of advanced responder technologies and played a key role in shaping the Enhanced Dynamic Geo-Social Environment (EDGE) Virtual Training platform used for operational command and control simulations.
