Coby Skye

Former Deputy Director, Los Angeles County Public Works; Blue Skye Environmental Consulting

Coby Skye is the Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo County Integrated Waste Management Authority, a role he has had since 2025. The IWMA serves as the Joint Powers Authority for all the jurisdictions in SLO County, ensuring coordinated compliance with all waste and recycling regulations.

Prior to joining the IWMA, Coby Skye was President of Blue Skye Environmental Consulting, a small firm advancing sustainability and resource conservation. Coby Skye also served as Deputy Director overseeing the Environmental Services Core Service Area of Los Angeles County Public Works. There, Coby was responsible for the Environmental Programs, Sewer Maintenance and Fleet Management business areas of the largest public works agency in the US.

Coby has over 25 years of experience in the environmental field, including development and implementation of environmental policy, solid waste management and recycling programs.

Coby is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of California. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from NYU/Polytechnic University in New York and a Master of Public Administration degree from California State University, Long Beach.
