Erin Rowland

Erin Rowland is an environmental sustainability and waste reduction leader with the City of Long Beach, where she serves as General Superintendent in the Department of Public Works’ Environmental Services Bureau. In her role, Rowland oversees programs focused on waste diversion, recycling, organics management, circular economy initiatives, and community sustainability engagement for one of California’s largest coastal cities. Her work supports Long Beach’s broader climate and sustainability goals, including implementation of the city’s Climate Action Plan and compliance with California’s evolving waste reduction and organics recycling mandates.Rowland has become a recognized leader in municipal sustainability and resource recovery, helping advance programs related to recycling education, food waste reduction, composting, reuse initiatives, and community-based environmental outreach. She has played an active role in Long Beach’s implementation of SB 1383 organic waste regulations and in developing programs designed to reduce landfill waste while expanding public participation in sustainability initiatives.
