Heather Repenning is a sustainability and public policy leader with nearly two decades of experience advancing climate, infrastructure, and environmental initiatives across Los Angeles. She currently serves as Executive Officer for Sustainability Policy at LA Metro, where she leads policies and programs focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, electrifying transit infrastructure, conserving resources, and supporting sustainable communities throughout Los Angeles County. Her work at Metro has included oversight of major climate and sustainability initiatives tied to one of the nation’s largest public transportation systems. Repenning also serves on the board of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, where she has advocated for water resilience, environmental protection, workforce development, and equitable access for ratepayers across Southern California.Previously, Repenning served as Vice President of the City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works, overseeing management and policy related to solid waste, wastewater, stormwater, urban forestry, street services, and public infrastructure design and construction. Earlier in her career, she was Director of External Affairs for former Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, where she led intergovernmental relations and community advocacy efforts for the city in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Washington, D.C.Known for her collaborative approach to climate and infrastructure policy, Repenning has been involved in initiatives spanning zero waste, clean transportation, integrated water management, and urban sustainability. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Swarthmore College and earned a master’s degree in Comparative Literature from University of California, Irvine
