Houtan Moaveni is Vice President at Grid Strategies, a leading power sector consulting firm specializing in transmission policy, grid modernization, wholesale electricity markets, and clean energy integration. In his role, Moaveni advises utilities, developers, government agencies, and industry stakeholders on energy policy, permitting reform, transmission planning, and strategies to accelerate deployment of renewable energy infrastructure and grid expansion. Before joining Grid Strategies, Moaveni served as the founding Executive Director of the New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES), where he established and led the nation’s first state agency dedicated exclusively to permitting large-scale renewable energy and electric transmission projects. Under his leadership, New York implemented one of the country’s most ambitious streamlined permitting frameworks for clean energy infrastructure, significantly accelerating project approvals while balancing environmental review and stakeholder engagement.
