Jackie Birdsall

Jackie Birdsall is a clean transportation and hydrogen technology leader with more than two decades of experience in the automotive and zero-emissions mobility sectors. She currently serves as Senior Program Manager of Environmental Regulations at Toyota Motor North America, where she leads regulatory strategy supporting Toyota’s decarbonization and zero-emission vehicle initiatives.Prior to her current role, Birdsall led Toyota’s Hydrogen Ecosystem and Fuel Cell Integration groups, overseeing development efforts focused on hydrogen fueling infrastructure, fuel cell technologies, and sustainable mobility solutions designed to reduce dependence on gasoline and diesel-powered transportation. Her work has played an important role in advancing Toyota’s hydrogen and fuel cell vehicle strategy, including initiatives connected to the Toyota Mirai and broader clean transportation deployment efforts.Birdsall has extensive international experience, including an assignment at Toyota Motor Corporation’s global headquarters in Japan, where she contributed to development work on next-generation hydrogen mobility technologies. Throughout her career, she has become a recognized advocate for hydrogen as a scalable clean energy solution for transportation, freight, and industrial applications. In addition to her professional leadership, Birdsall is actively involved in STEM education, sustainability advocacy, and nonprofit initiatives focused on clean water access and environmental stewardship. She serves on the University of Southern California Sustainability Board and on the board of Well Aware, a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering clean water systems in East Africa. Birdsall earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University and is widely recognized for her expertise in hydrogen infrastructure, environmental policy, fuel cell technology, and transportation decarbonization.
