Joseph A. Boystak is a highly accomplished senior investment banker, venture capitalist, and serial entrepreneur with more than 35 years of global experience driving innovation across the healthcare, life sciences, and emerging technology sectors. Known for bridging the gap between cutting-edge scientific research and commercial markets, he has co-founded and led numerous spin-out ventures originating from prestigious institutions such as UCLA, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Caltech/JPL. Currently, Mr. Boystak serves as the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Executive Chairman of Balboa Geolocation, a Santa Monica-based advanced data and geolocation company, alongside his roles as CEO of Brightwaters Capital and Chairman of Montauk Technologies.

Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Boystak has held pivotal leadership positions at the intersection of finance and medicine. He was the Founding Managing Partner of Health2047 Capital Partners, an investment arm linked to the American Medical Association, and previously served as the Founding Managing Director of Global Life Sciences Investment Banking at Jefferies, where he orchestrated major international transactions spanning equity, debt, and mergers and acquisitions. An innovator in his own right, he is a named co-inventor on five issued US and European patents for pioneering medical and diagnostic technologies.

Dedicated to advancing public health and regional economic growth, Mr. Boystak actively contributes his expertise to several prominent boards. He serves on the Health Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he earned his Master of Health Science degree, and sits on the boards of the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation and the Southern California Biomedical Council. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduated cum laude, from Boston University.
