Meghan Sahli-Wells

Strategic Advisor, Better World Group

Meghan Sahli-Wells is a climate policy strategist, environmental justice advocate, and former elected official recognized for her leadership in clean energy, sustainable transportation, and progressive local governance. She currently serves as a Strategic Advisor at Better World Group, where she advises on environmental justice, mobility, and democracy initiatives, drawing on more than a decade of public-sector leadership and coalition building. Sahli-Wells previously served two terms as Mayor of Culver City and was one of the city’s leading voices on climate action and active transportation. During her tenure on the City Council, she helped transition Culver City to 100% renewable electricity through Clean Power Alliance, advanced equitable sustainability policies, strengthened tenant protections, championed affordable housing, and led efforts to phase out oil drilling in the Inglewood Oil Field. She also helped establish the city’s first bike and pedestrian master plan and Safe Routes to School program, earning the nickname “The Biking Mayor.” Beyond local government, Sahli-Wells has played influential leadership roles in state and national climate advocacy. She previously served as California State Director for Elected Officials to Protect America, mobilizing public officials to support ambitious climate legislation and fossil fuel phaseout policies. She is also a founding board member of Local Progress and currently serves on the national board of the Sierra Club.
