Congressman Mike Levin
United States Congressman for California
Mike Levin is an attorney, environmental advocate, and four-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives representing California’s 49th Congressional District, which includes portions of North San Diego County and South Orange County. Since taking office in 2019, Levin has built a reputation as a leading voice on climate policy, clean energy innovation, veterans’ affairs, and coastal environmental protection. Before entering Congress, Levin spent more than a decade working in environmental law, energy regulatory compliance, and public policy. He served on the board of the Center for Sustainable Energy and co-founded Sustain OC, a regional nonprofit initiative focused on accelerating sustainable transportation and renewable energy solutions in Southern California. His early career also included service as Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Orange County. In Congress, Levin has focused heavily on combating climate change, expanding renewable energy development, and protecting California’s coastline from offshore drilling. He has sponsored and supported legislation related to zero-emission vehicles, clean energy infrastructure, and environmental resilience. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), a leading congressional caucus focused on environmental and climate policy. Levin is also recognized nationally for his leadership on veterans’ issues and nuclear waste safety. Representing the district that includes Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and the decommissioned San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, he has championed bipartisan legislation to improve veterans’ healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities while advocating for the safe removal and long-term management of spent nuclear fuel. During his tenure on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, more than 70 veteran-focused bills advanced into law under his leadership on the Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity.
