Nick Schultz is a California legislator, attorney, and former local government leader currently serving as Assemblymember for California’s 44th Assembly District, representing Burbank, Glendale, and communities across the eastern San Fernando Valley. Elected to the State Assembly in 2024, Schultz has quickly emerged as a leading voice on public safety, housing, climate policy, and criminal justice reform in the California Legislature. Shortly after taking office, Schultz was appointed Chair of the California State Assembly Committee on Public Safety, where he oversees legislation related to criminal justice, law enforcement, rehabilitation, and community safety. He also serves on the Assembly Committees on Budget, Utilities and Energy, and Natural Resources, reflecting his policy focus on public infrastructure, climate resilience, and sustainable economic development. Prior to joining the Legislature, Schultz served on the Burbank City Council after being elected in 2020 with one of the highest vote totals in the city’s history. He later served as Mayor of Burbank in 2023, where he championed policies addressing homelessness, affordable housing, greenhouse gas reduction, and public safety while advancing the city’s long-term sustainability goals.
