Rémi Raphael

Rémi Raphael is an experienced business leader with broad knowledge of the energy industry, risk management and information technology.

Currently, Mr. Raphael is leading AI initiatives at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Prior to this role, he led Digital Technology at Origis Energy and EDF Renewables North America covering the IT & Digital Transformation organizations and prior to that Business Transformation at Duke Energy focusing on enabling business success with Digital capabilities, Mobility and Digital tools adoption across all business units.

Mr. Raphael has also extensive experience in risk management, leading Risk Management for Duke’s Natural Gas business, Risk Management for Duke Energy International focusing on its mostly renewable energy assets in Latin America. Prior to that, he led Quantitative Risk Management at SoCal Gas and San Diego Gas & Electric, Sempra Energy subsidiaries. He designed and implemented risk models, hedging strategies, energy storage models, portfolio risk analysis and reporting systems.

Mr. Raphael is a computer scientist by training and author of a dozen scientific publications on data integration, ontologies and workflow systems. He spent over a decade developing software in industry and academia prior to shifting his focus to the energy industry and the application of information technology to risk management, quantitative finance, and business & digital transformation.

Mr. Raphael is a passionate technologist who believes that one of the biggest challenges for our generation stands in building cleaner, reliable and affordable energy solutions that power our civilization today and preserve our planet for future generations.
