Biography: 

Gail Kennard is president of Kennard Design Group (KDG), a Los Angeles architectural firm founded in 1957 by Gail’s father, the late Robert Kennard, FAIA.  KDG is the oldest African-American-owned architectural practice in the West.  Work includes public infrastructure, transportation, and other public works projects.  Since 2010, she has served on the City of Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission and is currently the commission’s vice-president.  She is a strong advocate for sustainable design and seeks opportunities to serve the twin goals of historic preservation and sustainability through adaptive re-use of existing structures.
